easter afternoon

We went out to lunch on Easter and then set out to take a walk.

We made it about an eighth of a mile from the parking lot and had to leave to find a bathroom.

So we went to a playground instead.

Crosby had great fun playing in the dirt. It's hard to see in the picture but his clothes are black up to his waist. We had to put a binky in his mouth to keep him from eating dirt and mulch (even though he hates eating food).

This playground must have magic dirt or something. Once he crawled out of it his clothes started to come clean. By the time we got home, you couldn't tell he had ever been in dirt at all.

There is a handle above this that kind of looks like a steering wheel. You are supposed to stand on the one Gage is sitting on and hold onto the other one and spin. The kids are too short so they sit on the bottom and spin. I think you would have to be a rather tall kid to use it - it works well for me.

easter morning

The Easter bunny brings us doughnut holes for breakfast every year.

Piper's first egg.

The Easter bunny thought that he would be smart and hide Gage's basket under Crosby's diapers in the box where we keep them. However, Gage looked in the stand where his basket was hidden last year and when there was no basket there, he immediately pulled out Crosby's diaper box and emptied it.

He got the Rescue Bot that he didn't have yet. (Notice Crosby in the background eating an egg. I thought he was just sucking on the shell - turns out he was using his teeth to chip off little pieces. He had a whole mouth full of egg shell chips.)

Crosby got a wooden caterpillar on wheels.

He thought it was great and started pushing it around the living room.

Piper got the purple ball that she wanted for Christmas (it turns out even Santa can't get a giant ball in December) and a giant gummy bear since she is obsessed with them.

Rory's basket was very hard to find. All three older kids spent a long time looking for it. She finally found it in the microwave.

She got the Easter matryoshka set that she wanted. They were all really impressed that the Easter bunny got them just what they wanted.

egg dying

Easter eggs!

Our purple dye wouldn't make eggs purple so Piper had to make different colored eggs. Then we mixed red and blue dye and got a purple that actually worked so all the rest of her eggs were purple.

Gage had lots of fun making very dark colors (and annoying Rory because he had all the dyes for so long). He left a purple one in the dye for about an hour after we finished dyeing and called it his plum.

Rory spent lots of time dyeing one color on top of another to make fancy eggs.

gardening

There is a square patch of flowering weeds over the slope here that the kids use as a garden. Somehow Gage only ended up in this picture behind the bulldozer that Piper is using.

Fields finally turning green.
